Nexus -- a comic by Mike Baron and Steve Rude -- is one of my pegs for a superheroic science fiction setting. I love the core story of an executioner of mass murderers who is (initially) driven to kill out of self-defense; a real twist on the original inspiration of the character -- Space Ghost.

There was a time that I ran a short-lived D&amp;D campaign using 3rd Edition rules set in the Forgotten Realms, and I dispensed with XP for monsters, treasure, encounters, traps and so on. I basically said that characters would level up by one level for every three sessions they played (based primarily on the fact that I had only so many scenarios and a tight schedule to actually run games).

Been thinking about how to structure a series of 5 posts on creating a superhero campaign. I know that I normally go through a series of steps, but would they break down into five?
